Imam Barred From Plane, Suspects Profiling

A statement from the lawyer of Imam Al Amin Abdul Latif:

"Under federal law, airlines and pilots cannot arbitrarily discriminate against passengers based upon race, religion, ethnicity, or national origin. Unfortunately, that's what American Airlines did to Imam Latif and his son."

"Despite being thoroughly screened multiple times by TSA, the Imams were kicked off their flights based upon their appearance. That's just unacceptable."

"The Imams have rights just like every other American, and you better believe they're going to assert those rights."

The North American Imams Federation held a conference in Charlotte, N.C. last weekend to address 'Islamophobia.' Imam Al Amin Abdul Latif is one of four Muslims who were not allowed to board their flights. He then drove twelve hours to attend the event. Host Michel Martin speaks with Imam Latif about how Muslims are treated in the U.S.
