Health and Fitness ? Blood Pressure and Heart Rate, What You ...

High blood pressure or hypertension is a very common condition ? with large numbers of people affected ? many of whom suffer as a result of the side effects of the medication they take.

There are in fact cheaper, simpler, less damaging and often more effective natural ways to reduce and control blood pressure & heart rate.

There are a variety of conditions and circumstances known to be associated with hypertension ? such as Adrenal and thyroid disorders, excess weight, kidney disease and stress.

In general however ? stress is not recognized and named as a cause for hypertension and a raised pulse ? and since no other specific cause is found for most cases of high blood pressure ? the condition is then labeled as essential hypertension ? suggesting it just happens for no reason ? though basically meaning no cause has been identified.

It is usual if you are found to have high blood pressure to have a series of investigations, such as blood tests and a chest x-ray to exclude treatable or serious causes ? though rarely is anything abnormal found on these tests.

At the same time as taking blood tests to exclude causes for blood pressure elevations, however, blood tests are often taken to measure cholesterol levels ? since it has been said that both hypertension and raised cholesterol can cause heart disease, strokes and other cardiovascular problems.

Beware ? the evidence for cholesterol as a cause for these conditions has always been dubious and is more and more being recognized to be so. It is therefore worth looking into this further before starting cholesterol-lowering medication which can also have serious or unpleasant side effects.

Although medical treatment for high blood pressure usually involves medication of one sort or another it has been shown that natural health methods such as meditation, self-hypnosis and biofeedback are at least as effective and probably more so in many cases. At the same time there are no side effects and many additional benefits.

I would strongly suggest you therefore consider effective natural health alternatives.

As both a hospital and a family doctor I saw many people suffering the side effects of medication for?blood pressure and heart rate?- such as faints, impotence, nausea, weight gain, tiredness, poor thinking, insomnia, depression and many more ? and I was therefore determined to find natural health alternatives that would work as well or better.
