Wariness over Europe keeps stocks trading lower

Stocks continued lower Thursday entering afternoon trading amid continuing worries about ?Europe?s financial crisis.

The news overtook some bright spots about a recovery. Approaching 1 p.m. Eastern time the S&P 500 was down 0.66 percent.? The Dow Jones Industrial Average was off 0.60 percent. The Nasdaq was down 1.32 percent.

Stocks had been heading for a higher opening?on enthusiasm over Europe and after news that jobless claims fell in the latest week. But the upbeat mood was?subdued by a report in?German newspaper Die Welt that Germany has not ruled out postponing a crucial?EU summit?set for this weekend to resolve?the euro zone's debt crisis, Reuters reported.
